can't teach copywriting

i contribute 90% of my business achievements towards my writings

i've been writing for most of my life

my favorite subject in school was "danish" because all i had to do was to take the things from my head and put it on a piece of paper

with both of my parents being teachers, reading and writing was a household activity

15 years later, i now make a living from sharing my writings

not as an author, but as a consultant

i get clients from the content i share, and everything you've ever consumed from me started as a piece of writing

actually, as a note

so naturally, writing and communication is a core part of the digital coffee shop philosophy

  • the right communication attracts the right clients
  • a well written offer document skips the sales call
  • interesting storytelling makes people watch your youtube videos till the end

in the beginning, i tried to teach "copywriting"

the structure, the rhythm and how to string a great piece of content together

clients loved it

but they never published anything

it turns out, none of that mattered

because the real blocker wasn't that my clients didn't know how to write

it was that they believed they weren't allowed to

they'd sit on a great story, insight or learning

something that happened in their business, with a client or in their own life that was worth sharing

instead of bringing that story into the world, they would keep it in their notebook

"that's not interesting"

"everyone already knows that"

"who am I to talk about this?"

not even the worlds best copywriting course could overcome these thoughts

i tried my best

i'd tell them their stories mattered, show them examples and make new frameworks

but you can't teach someone to believe they're good enough by telling them they are

so i stopped trying to teach copywriting

and built The Daily Writer instead

it doesn't teach a single thing

it just asks the right questions in the right order

now, my clients just answers the questions, one by one (with a voice note even) and The Daily Writer will assemble all the answers into a newsletter, post and one-liners

it doesn't write for them, AI can't do that

but it builds the piece of writing, brick by brick

The Daily Writer assembled this email, do you notice the structure?

last week alone, my 18 active clients created 93 pieces that now lives on the internet as a LinkedIn post, an Instagram reel, a YouTube video, an email or a storyline

not because i taught them how

but because the tool gave them permission to believe their moments were worth sharing by reminding my clients on how awesome they are

my mom and dad never taught me how to write

they taught me that it was worth sharing

best, fred

when i lived in sunny dubai and my business did $217,000 per month, i didn't feel very rich last month, my business only did 1/4 of that number the taxman takes half of it i only see the sun twice per year in denmark and yet i've never felt richer the digital coffee shop model wasn't designed to make me rich in cash fast if I wanted a quick jump in revenue, i could've picked the restaurant on the other side of the road they serve a money back guarantee together with a nice video sales letter...

when you focus more on ideas and philosophy rather than offers and guarantees, this is what happens: i sent my offer document to a guy who showed interest in working with me yesterday everything looked great, he just had 1 question: "Do you have examples of companies you've worked with that are not working with other coaches/consultants to help them grow? I know this is an annoying question, it's just that I have been burned before by people who were "selling the shovel." fair question, i've...
